Our Story

Calvert Lighthouse is a growing church located in Calvert County, MD.  We began our ministry in September of 1979.  Since that time God has blessed Calvert Lighthouse with a beautiful house of worship, where the church currently resides.  The Lord has given us vision for the future and as a result we are designing a new 350 seat sanctuary with a modern church office, nursery, and coffee shop to welcome our guests.  This new facility will allow us to repurpose the current sanctuary and use its space for added Sunday school rooms, a youth chapel and other meeting spaces.  God has been adding people to the Church from all backgrounds, nationalities, and ages.
     Calvert Lighthouse is a fellowship that is not concerned about “church” as usual, but rather interested in God. It’s our belief that “church” encourages religion, and we all know that religion is rigid, static, and predictable. However, at Calvert Lighthouse our services are neither rigid, static, nor predictable. Just ask those who attend and they will tell you “where the spirit of the Lord is, anything can happen!”  Come and see for yourself what God is doing at Calvert Lighthouse.

At Calvert Lighthouse it is our belief that a Church should not simply be a fixture in a community, rather should be an active participant in the community.  It is this belief that fuels our continued increased outreach to those who are food insecure by increasing our food pantry services.   As we endeavor to be a 21 century apostolic church in principle, practice and power we are increasing other community outreaches as well.  

 It is our belief that growth must not only be numerical it must also be spiritual and relational.  We are headed Upward . . . Inward . . . Outward.   As families continue to disintegrate, the church much become a more "caring place" where people can find brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers and cousins and uncles and aunts to replace what they have lost in the world.  Reaching Upward we have prayer times, prayer zooms, special fasting times and Bible studies to keep a close connection to the Lord Jesus.  Reaching Inward we take intentional steps to foster spiritual growth, unity and caring relationships, by having fellowships and other joint events that bring us together.  Reaching Outward we concentrate on ways to spread the gospel to our community.  Simply put, we see a need and fill it.
